Swaging is the forming method of reducing the cross section of a tube, bar or wire to a specific cross-section of predetermined dimensions, resulting in an increase in length of the swaged part. This must not be confused with crimping (or segmented swaging) or pointing methods which cannot achieve the high accuracy or surface quality of the swaging process.
